After reviewing the behavior, this is working as designed and is not a bug. The order of linked variants displayed in the POS follows the configuration order defined in the Portal. If the most frequently sold variant (e.g., Medium) is placed first in the Portal, it is shown as the first/default variant in the POS to speed up the ordering process. For additional linked variant groups, the first value is only highlighted as the default option for visibility, but it is not preselected. The cashier must explicitly select an option before adding the item to the cart. Therefore, the reported behavior is expected.
